These dates apply to every CPP benefit paid monthly: the retirement pension, the disability benefit, the survivor's pension and the children's benefit. Service Canada had not published 2027 dates as of October 13, 2026.

CPP and OAS arrive on the same day

If you receive both the Canada Pension Plan and Old Age Security, both deposits are made on the same date. They are separate payments, so they usually show up as two lines on your bank statement. The Guaranteed Income Supplement, for OAS recipients with lower incomes, is paid together with OAS.

Because the two programs are different, they change at different times. CPP amounts are adjusted once a year, in January. OAS amounts are reviewed every three months — in January, April, July and October.

Why the date moves from month to month

Service Canada sets a calendar of payment dates in advance. Payments fall in the last week or so of each month, on a business day, so the exact day shifts with weekends and holidays. In 2026 the earliest is February 25 and the latest is July 29.

December is the exception: the payment is made earlier, before the holidays. In 2026 the December payment is on Tuesday, December 22.

Plan bill payments and pre-authorized debits for a few days after the payment date, not on it. If a debit runs the morning the deposit lands, the order in which your bank posts the two can cause an overdraft.

Budgeting around the gaps between payments

Because the payment day moves, the time between two CPP deposits is not always a month. In 2026 the gap ranges from 26 to 33 days:

The longest stretches in 2026 are late June to late July and late September to late October, at 33 days each. The shortest is between November 26 and December 22. After the early December payment, the money usually has to last more than a month, because the January payment comes near the end of January. If your budget is tight, set aside part of the December deposit for early January.

Which CPP benefits follow these dates

The monthly dates apply to the CPP retirement pension, the post-retirement benefit, the disability benefit, the survivor's pension and the children's benefits. The CPP death benefit is different: it is a one-time payment, issued when the application is approved, not on the monthly calendar.

How much will my CPP be?

Your CPP retirement pension depends on how much you contributed during your working years and the age at which you started the pension. Starting before 65 lowers the monthly amount permanently; waiting past 65 raises it, up to age 70.

Every January, CPP payments are increased in line with the cost of living, measured by the Consumer Price Index. This page does not list dollar amounts, because they differ for each person; your own statement of contributions and your payment amount are in My Service Canada Account.

Taxes on your CPP

CPP benefits are taxable income. Each year Service Canada issues a T4A(P) slip showing the CPP you received, which you use when you file your return. You can ask Service Canada to deduct income tax from each payment so you don't face a large bill at tax time — useful if CPP is not your only income.

Tax returns for 2026 are due on April 30, 2027.

If your CPP payment is missing

  1. Check the date in the table above — especially in December, when payments come early.
  2. Give your bank a business day. Most direct deposits appear on the payment date, but posting times vary by bank.
  3. Sign in to My Service Canada Account to confirm the payment was issued and that your banking and address details are current.
  4. Contact Service Canada if the payment still hasn't arrived. Paper cheques can take longer because of mail delivery; switching to direct deposit removes that delay.
